Dr. Scott Hoffman

Hi, I am Dr. Scott Hoffman and I purchased Gig Harbor Veterinary Hospital from Dr. Kirby in 2022. I grew up near Cleveland, Ohio and am a 2002 graduate of Ohio State University. After graduating from veterinary school, I moved west to Flagstaff, AZ for some adventure. I worked for a small animal general practice, where I met Frances at work. I also spent time in Phoenix, Arizona working in a high-volume spay and neuter clinic as well as spay and neuter at the local county shelter. I spent a few years working in Denver, Colorado working at a no kill shelter and in general practice, then back to Phoenix again most recently at North Kenilworth Veterinary Care. My boss at that clinic inspired me to make the jump to purchase a hospital in an area that I love and take good care of my patients and their owners.

Outside of helping your furry family, I love coffee, hiking through the forests, watching my favorite Ohio, Arizona, and Washington teams play, playing video games with my boys, and all things Star Wars. Don't tell the other critters, but orange tabby cats are my favorite.

Frances Hoffman, LVT

Hello, I am Frances, Dr. Hoffman's wife and practice manager. I grew up in Arizona in a small mining and ranching town where I started hanging around the local veterinary clinic in high school. I went to college planning to become a veterinarian, but enjoyed my work as a technician and became a Licensed Veterinary Technician instead. Over the years I have worked as a zookeeper, relief technician, veterinary research, and for the past 10 years I have taught veterinary technicians at Pima Medical Institute. My favorite classes are pharmacology, diagnostic imaging, and exotics. When not working, my favorite things to do are beachcombing, bird watching, and painting. I love exploring the Gig Harbor area and learning about the local plants and animals. At the clinic you will find me in the office behind the scenes, helping our fourth and sixth grade boys with homework, monitoring anesthesia, filling prescriptions, and helping out wherever an extra hand is needed.

A message from Dr. Kirby on his retirement and the future of Gig Harbor Veterinary Hospital

Carrying on Traditions

My Dear Clients & Friends,

As some of you may already heard, it is true, I have retired. While bittersweet, after 52 years in practice

at Gig Harbor Veterinary Hospital, I am excited to explore the next chapter of my life (Yes, it will surely

include lots & lots of fishing). Thank you truly for your loyalty, friendship and memories. Things I will

forever cherish. I will miss all of you and your furry family members terribly, but it is time to pass the

torch.

I do leave you in the most capable & caring hands. For those of you who have not had the pleasure of

meeting yet, I am very happy to introduce you to Dr. Scott Hoffman. Dr. Hoffman is a 2002 Ohio State

University graduate. He brings with him his wife (& office manager), Frances, and 2 wonderful boys,

Cameron (10) & Everitt (8). The family is from the Phoenix, AZ area where Dr. Hoffman practiced at North

Kenilworth Veterinary Care. You may have already seen the family out exploring our beautiful town or

on the hiking trails while enjoying the pleasant summer temperatures of the PNW. Please join me in

welcoming the Hoffman’s to our wonderful community.

As some of you know, I really don’t care for goodbyes. So, let’s just say See You Around or maybe just a

“Fish On”.
